As per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to make groups with up to 1,024 people to a cadre of beta testers. Only a select set of WhatsApp users are reportedly getting to use the expanded WhatsApp group chat facility. The feature is rolling out to both Android and iOS devices.
It is important to note that WhatsApp already doubled the number from 256 to 512 people mere months ago. But competitor Telegram already allows for up to 200,000 people to join the same group chat.
This would be useful for enterprises or if you are using a group for broadcasting purposes. In that case, it will allow you to send a message or information to many people in one go.
Apart from the increased group chat participants limit, WhatsApp is also working on the ability to show a list of pending group invitations. So the admins will be able to see new invitations and have the power to approve your request to join a group. But a new upcoming feature that we are most excited about is the ability to create polls within WhatsApp. Yeah, the messaging app is also testing poll creation in beta with a select few users, so keep an eye out for that as well.
